One of the most common questions I am often asked is ‘What’s the difference between a Facebook Fan Page and a Facebook Personal Profile’ so I thought I’d explain 5 basic differences:
If you are a business and you want to advertise on Facebook you need to have a Facebook Business Page. By having a Business Page you can set up an advertising account easily and run advertising targeted at your specific audience to either attract them to your Facebook Business Page or an external URL (website).
2. You can have over 5,000 Fans
With a personal Facebook Profile you are limited to 5,000 friends, however with a Facebook Business Page the sky is the limit.
By default Facebook Business Pages are open to everyone, this means anyone who is on Facebook and even those people who are not on Facebook (provided they have access to your username/URL or through search) can access the information that you post on your page. Having a Facebook Business Page is just like having an interactive website: everyone can see your business, search for it and interact with your business.
4. Page Applications
You can add applications like games to your personal profile however you can not add ‘page applications’ to your personal profile. ‘Page applications’ are specifically designed for Facebook Business Pages, they allow you to add a ‘Welcome’ landing tab (so people know what they are signing up for), they help you run contests/competitions, collect visitor data for mailing lists and much more.
5. Page Insights
